I have been a member of the UWSA since May 2011, when I became a permanent staff member here at UW. My involvement increased when I became the UWSA Area Representative for the Electrical & Computer Engineering department 5 years ago and served as the Area Rep Committee Chair for 2 of those years.

I am currently a Board Member and serve on multiple committees, including the Governance & Nomination Committee, Finance Committee, Staff Compensation Strategy Committee and the Staff Relations Committee.

Through the years, I have seen the good and bad while advocating for myself and colleagues in situations that should have never occurred in the workplace. I truly believe that staff are the backbone of the university, however, we are sometimes forgotten in the shuffle. We deserve a better working environment and I vow to work hand in hand with the University to make important changes in how we are treated and compensated for our hard work.

As UWSA president, I promise to be completely transparent through communication. There are many initiatives in the works, including the Strategic Talent & Performance Management Framework and the Performance Appraisal System Review, that we are all anxious about. I believe all staff should have a voice in how these negotiations proceed and look forward to hearing your ideas to be brought into the discussions.

This last year as a Board member has only strengthened my desire to be more involved in the UWSA and fueled my decision to run for president. I can promise to listen, communicate and advocate for all staff and give a voice to all who feel unheard on campus.

Off campus, I have served on the board of school council, sports leagues, coached house league baseball and volunteer with the Oktoberfest parade and the 519 Community Collective.
