A UWSA representative is needed for the newly re-established Sustainable Transportation Advisory Committee (formerly the Parking Advisory Committee).
The committee will bring together employee and student representatives to review policies, provide feedback on programs and initiatives, identify emerging needs and barriers, and help shape recommendations related to parking, active transportation, transit, and other mobility solutions. The committee is scheduled to hold its first meeting in September 2026 and meet regularly thereafter.

What’s involved
As the UWSA representative, you will bring staff perspectives to committee discussions and help identify how proposed changes may affect employees. Members will be expected to review meeting materials, participate in discussions, provide feedback based on their experience and observations, and help ensure a range of staff viewpoints are considered in recommendations to the University. Qualifications
We're looking for someone who is:
- Interested in transportation, accessibility, sustainability, campus planning, or related issues.
- Able to consider the needs of a diverse staff community and balance different perspectives.
- Comfortable asking questions and contributing to group discussions.
- Willing to share feedback constructively while remaining open to other viewpoints.
- Able to treat committee discussions and sensitive information with appropriate discretion.
All UWSA Members will be considered, regardless of appointment type or contract end date.
Time commitment
Members can expect to spend about 4–8 hours per term, including meetings, review of meeting materials, and occasional follow-up with the UWSA Operations Team. The committee normally meets once per academic term, with additional meetings scheduled as needed.
Relationship with the UWSA
UWSA appointees on University of Waterloo committees are asked to keep in touch with the UWSA Operations Team regularly so we can work together to gather input, coordinate responses, and keep members informed. All appointees are also ex officio members of the Area Representatives Council and are invited to share updates or solicit input at meetings or on Teams.
