Two staff members are needed for the Dispute Resolution Pool. The Dispute Resolution Pool is a group of 12 staff members who are available to serve should a formal Dispute Resolution Tribunal be required. Six members are nominated by the Vice-President, Academic and Provost and six are nominated by the UWSA Appointments Committee.
Openings: Two
Term: May 1, 2025 – April 30, 2028 (three years; members are eligible for reappointment for one subsequent three-year term)
Deadline: April 4
What’s involved
Policy 36 – Dispute Resolution for University Support Staff provides a confidential, effective, and fair way to resolve problems, disputes, misunderstandings, and disagreements concerning management action or inaction directly affecting a staff member. When a Dispute proceeds to the formal stage, a Tribunal is formed from the pool. The mandate of a Tribunal is to determine whether to hear a case and, if hearing a case, to conduct a hearing and render a decision. A Tribunal's decision, which is final and binding on the parties, will be based on its determination of the relevant facts and a reasonable interpretation of a University policy, procedure, or guideline as it applies to the situation under dispute.
The time commitment for the pool is difficult to define as pool members are asked to serve on a Tribunal when the need arises. Training will be provided. Please see Policy 36 – Dispute Resolution for University Support Staff for more information.
