About Khyati: I am a lifelong educator and researcher in post-secondary institutions in India (IIT Guwahati) and across Canada (University of Alberta, York University, Lambton College, University of Waterloo). I currently work as a Student Leadership Development Specialist at the SSO. I hold an MA in Digital Humanities, an M.Des. in Visual Communication Design, and a BFA. I have volunteered extensively in community organizations and am currently also a part of the leadership team of the National Community of Care of Educational Developers of Canada. I enjoy travelling, cooking and reading.
Reason for running: To want to make a difference in policy development and transparency, such that it aligns with the University's commitment to staff wellbeing and development. There is a significant gap in the moment, and I hope I can advocate to learn more about UWSA and contribute to make a positive impact for all.
Vision for the UWSA: I hope that the UWSA can stay close to its mandate of being a socially just body that works for the interests of staff, in alignment with University of Waterloo HR policies, and yet independent enough to support and advocate for staff interests vigorously.
