Teaching Assistant – UNIV 101: Strategies & Skills for Academic Success
The UNIV 101 course at the University of Waterloo, led by an Academic Development Specialist, seeks a Teaching Assistant (TA) to support students in key areas like time management, note-taking, and resilience. The TA will work closely with the instructor, grading assignments, offering faculty-specific insights, and supporting diverse student needs.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate weekly seminars and hold office hours.
- Use teaching strategies to support students' academic and life skills.
- Attend team meetings, provide feedback on assignments, and use educational tools (e.g., LEARN, Vevox)
Requirements:
- Current UW graduate student, preferably a PhD candidate.
- Supervisor authorization to work more than 10 hours per week for full time students who already have on-campus work.
- Strong communication, leadership, and collaborative skills.
- Prior TA or teaching experience is an asset.
- Interest in teaching strategies and student success research.
