Volunteer opportunities

Orientation volunteer positions 

(Volunteer: March to September 2015 – many positions available)(Applications close in January, exact dates vary, see specific position postings for details)

Waterloo Orientation is looking for undergraduate volunteers to fill a variety of leadership positions for First-Year Student Orientation in Fall 2015. All Orientation Leaders must have a desire and passion for helping first-year students and must be positive role models both personally and academically. Orientation Leaders will need to be flexible and possess the ability to work closely with and lead others. This requires clear analytical thinking and excellent interpersonal skills.  There are a wide variety of positions available within each Faculty, the Federation of Students, and the Student Success Office. Additional leadership positions for Transfer Student Orientation, Exchange Student Orientation, and Graduate Student Orientation will be posted in the spring term.

International Student Experience volunteer 

The International Student Experience (ISE) offers many opportunities for students to get involved with the international student community on campus. 

ISE accepts new volunteers every term, visit the International Student Experience site for application deadlines.

Student Consultation Groups

We have different topics throughout the term so you can sign up for the session that interests you. As a thank you for participating we'll add $10 to your WatCard and we’ll also treat you to a pizza lunch. Learn more about consultation groups.

Next month, we'll be discussing the student portal. Currently, students in the Faculty of Arts, Environment, Engineering, and Math have access to the portal in a phased rollout.

A lot has changed on the student portal since it was initially launched and we want to hear your feedback. We want to know how you use the portal and widgets, your thoughts on the user interface, and promotions across campus.

Student Leadership Program Facilitator

(Application deadline is February 13, 2015)

The Student Success Office (SSO) is seeking several passionate, creative and enthusiastic students that will assist in facilitating workshops for the  Student Leadership Program (SLP). This development opportunity is open to current Waterloo students (undergraduate or graduate).

Facilitation of the SLP is an excellent opportunity for students to work with a variety of students from across campus in addition to personally developing leadership, presentation and facilitation skills in a supported environment.
