In this module, team members individually complete an anonymous survey which, during the session, enables them to reflect on the effectiveness of their team. Students partake in an internal group discussion as well as a class-wide activity to determine concrete actions to strengthen areas of weakness.
A team level assessment will support individuals in recognizing differences among team members needs and perspectives and in understanding why potential conflicts have occurred. The module will provide a space where teams can determine the appropriate processes necessary to provide better structure and direction for the team. Participants will be encouraged to openly express their opinions, listen actively and to accept positive and constructive information regarding their performance.
By the end of the session students should be able to:
describe 1-2 reasons that their team may have scored low in a particular attribute
identify 2-3 strategies their team can implement to address a teamwork attribute they are weaker in
develop a team improvement plan in a constructive manner with their team members

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
