Silvia Dorado is an associate professor of Management at the University of Rhode Island and visiting professor at the Waterloo Institute for Social Innovation (WISIR) and the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED) at the University of Waterloo.
She is also a board member of DePaul Industries, a social enterprise devoted to generating employment for individuals with disabilities.
In her research, Dr. Dorado has explored such topics as processes of social innovation within markets, as well as the origins, management and challenges of social enterprises.
She has published on these topics in some of the top journals in management, including Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Nonforprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, and Organization Studies.
Silvia Dorado received her MA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and her PhD from McGill University.
