WISE Public Lecture

WISE Public Lecture Series - Forest Bioenergy in Ontario: Examining the Life Cycle Impacts and Costs of Using Harvest Residue as Feedstock for Small- and Large-Scale Bioenergy Systems

The Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA) teamed up with WISE and the University of Waterloo to host the third annual, invitation-only Resource Recovery Partnership Workshop on Thursday, June 23, 2016. 

The day focused on the relationship between academia, government, and industry.  Workshop participants debated and deliberated on ways of improving the working relationship between these critical sectors and shared ideas and insight about how collaboration will lead to improved waste policy and planning.

ACM E-Energy 2016

The seventh ACM International Conference on Future Energy Systems (ACM e-Energy) aimed to be the premier venue for researchers working in the broad areas of computing and communication for smart energy systems, and in energy-efficient computing and communication systems.

By bringing together researchers in a high-quality single-track conference with significant opportunities for individual and small-group interaction, this event served as a major forum for presentations and discussions to shape the future of this area. It was hosted by Lukasz Golab and Srinivasan Keshav et al.

OpenAccess Energy Summit 2016

This was an AE4H event held in April 2016 in partnership with the Waterloo Global Science Initiative (WGSI) at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo.

From April 24th to the 27th, 2016, The Waterloo Global Science Initiative hosted OpenAccess Energy, a Summit addressing the global energy access challenge that is motivated by these issues. WGSI’s summits bring together a multidisciplinary, multinational, and multi-generational group of stakeholders for a four-day intensive event where they develop an actionable framework for addressing a complex global issue.

A Call to Think Globally and Act Locally. Held at Hart House in Toronto with leaders from the government, community, academic and private sectors. The day included an exhibit of local art and environmental initiatives, a keynote, and two panel discussions. The public was invited to learn about ideas on how to act locally on climate change. WISE participated with a booth at the event.
