This week's Web Dev Rev notes started with Drupal:
- Drupal security announcement
- Drupal security releases for 7.74, 8.9.9, 9.0.8 and 9.1.0-rc1 (which also includes non-security changes)
- Drupal 8.9 and 9.0 marked incompatible with PHP 8
- Drupal 9.2 will be PHP 8 compatible, maybe not 9.1
- extending Drupal core's oEmbed source plugin beyond YouTube and Vimeo
- Smart Date 3.1 and beyond
- get involved with the future of Drupal at DrupalCon Europe
- DrupalCon Europe will only sustain if you show up for it
- 7 best practices of a good editorial experience
- create a user-friendly CMS for your content editors with Drupal
Finally, we had just a couple of the more general web notes:
- Firefox 83 is upon us
- what's new in Chrome 87
- Edge's dev channel update to 88.0.702.0 is live
- Composer 2.0.7 released and looking very stable
- a big table of notes on aria-label usage
- simulating colour vision deficiencies in the Blink renderer
- Google experimenting with automatic video creation from a web page
- GitHub on standing up for developers and how youtube-dl is back
At the end of the meeting, we recommended people watch the video, "Altering, extending, and enhancing Drupal" from DrupalCon Global 2020.
