Waterloo is committed to creating a safe, inclusive environment for everyone.

Encourage your student to explore their community and seek out cultural resources on campus. 

Indigenous students 

The Office of Indigenous Relations work collaboratively on and off-campus to advance the goals of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, creating a long-term vision for the University, grounded in decolonization. 

Resources include the Waterloo Indigenous Student Centre (WISC), tuition waiver and the Indigenous Student Development Fund. 

Racial Advocacy for Inclusion, Solidarity and Equity (RAISE) 

RAISE is a student-led service that works to address racism and xenophobia through education and advocacy, peer support and community building.

The Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association (WUSA) maintains a list of active cultural student clubs.

Faith communities

The Multi-Faith and Spirituality Resource Team represents different faith and spirituality traditions. They are a group of clergy, religious leaders and spiritual mentors that students can connect with for faith-based support. 

Multi-faith spaces are available across campus. 

2SLGBTQIA+ students

The Glow Centre is a student-led service and Canada’s oldest queer and trans student organization. They offer social events, discussion groups and resources for students. Trans students are also welcome at the Women’s Centre

All-gender washrooms are available across campus. Current students can change their pronouns in Quest. Additional resources for trans students are available through the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism. 

Women

The Women’s Centre is a student-led service dedicated to providing a supportive space on campus for all women and trans* folks.

Women in Engineering (WiE) supports women and non-binary Engineering students and alumni.

Women in Mathematics (WiM) encourages and advocates for women and gender minorities who are interested in studying and seeking careers in mathematics.
