Vivienne Ojala (BASc '84) has distinguished herself in the worlds of engineering, business and the community. As president of Kitchener-based Brock Solutions, Ojala has played an important role in its robust annual growth. Brock Solutions, which specializes in engineering solutions for industrial automation projects, has won the platinum award for being among the 50 Best Managed Private Companies in Canada for the last 10 years.

Vivienne's top memory from her engineering student days is enhancing her navigational skills through such events as the pub rally and the infamous "havenger scunt." This learning has proved very useful as she has had to find her way around many new places in the global economy.

In addition to being a generous donor, Ojala has shared her leadership talents with the University of Waterloo by serving on the advisory council of the Centre for Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology since 2004. Ojala, who also holds an MBA, has been a frequent guest speaker at Women in Engineering events, and was a member of the board for the Waterloo Engineering Alumni.

While studying systems design engineering at the University of Waterloo, she served as a member of the Engineering Society (founding the C&D stand), Student Advisory Council, and the Sandford Fleming Foundation. In 2006, Ojala received the Alumni Achievement Medal from the Faculty of Engineering.

Within the community, Ojala has sustained a rich relationship with the Kitchener-Waterloo YMCA and is currently president of the YMCA's board of directors. She is also an active member of global organization Young President's Organization (YPO).
