This tuition award commemorates the accomplishments of Sally Weaver. During her 27 years as a member of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Waterloo, Sally Weaver achieved international recognition as a scholar in applied anthropology. She had a lifetime commitment to excellence in research and teaching and an abiding determination to use her knowledge to promote justice and recognition for native peoples.
The award is open to scholarship-eligible University of Waterloo graduate students in the MA program in Public Issues Anthropology. Selection of the award recipient occurs at the end of the Winter term and is based on (1) academic achievement in the first two terms of the program, and (2) an evaluation of the student’s research proposal and its consistency with the goals of Public Issues Anthropology as exemplified in Sally Weaver’s career.
