Anthropology of Science Students visit Waterloo Pharmacy to see Science in Action

Wednesday, February 28, 2018

Professor Götz Hoeppe and 15 students from his Anthropology of Science class (ANTH 430) witnessed science in action on a field trip to the Waterloo Pharmacy in February. Professor Hoeppe, like other faculty members in the Anthropology department, sees great value in providing experiential learning opportunities to students. “This (seeing science in action) greatly benefits our understanding of how scientific practices are unavoidably social. It also helps us making sense of how bioprospecting for pharmaceutically useful plant ingredients works, which is one of the topics of our class.”
