Conflict and Cities Research Cluster (CCRC) is a new research cluster based at the School of Architecture, University of Waterloo. Established in 2022, the cluster investigates the relationship between political conflicts and the built environment, focusing on cities, sites and projects that address, experience or respond to political conflicts worldwide.  CCRC researches urban and architectural projects that are related to the following themes: violence and destruction, war and memorialization practices, nationalism, state-building, erasure, (post)colonialism, spatial resistance and justice, decolonization, along with many others.

If you are interested in CCRC’s research themes, please submit an expression of interest using this form.

Please complete the same form if you want to join CCRC’s mailing list or have any related work that you would like to share with the cluster. More information will follow during the term!

CCRC is established under the supervision of Dr Anwar Jaber. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to her at anwar.jaber@uwaterloo.ca
