Adjunct Professor

Kara Verbeek is a Toronto-based designer currently working as a project manager at LAMAS where she collaborates on various research, exhibition, and building design projects. Before returning to Toronto, Kara was a Junior Architect at OMA in Rotterdam. She completed her Master of Architecture degree at UBC’s School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture where she received numerous awards and scholarships including the Alpha Rho Chi Medal and was on the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Honour Roll. Prior to studying architecture, Kara worked as graphic designer. Combining architecture with her interest in graphic design, she is passionate about the ways in which the two disciplines can work together to represent, communicate, and create space. This interdisciplinary background plays a large role in her research on the relationships between technology, economy, ecology, and materiality in food production and rural architecture.
