What would a Community Land Trust neighbourhood look like? A KMCLT Research Committee Showcase

Saturday, December 20, 2025 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm EST (GMT -05:00)

The Kensington Market Community Land Trust Research Committee has been busy with a number of projects and will be hosting a research showcase on December 13 and 20! Come and learn about the following projects:

KMCLT has been working with a studio course at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture– “Architectures of relation: Infilling affordable housing in Kensington Market.” Come and see what the students have dreamed up! The presentation is supported by the Kensington Market Action Committee (KMAC). The project is part of a cross-Canada "Superstudio"–”End Housing Alienation Now!" that unites 14 architecture schools in studio courses that demand affordable and generous housing in response to today's housing emergency.

We’ve also been fortunate to receive support from U of T’s Farzaneh Hammasi (Faculty of Music) to map changes in Kensington Market: Scott Christian McCallum and Emily Hertzman have created an interactive map and contextual notes to share. A short presentation will be given at the research showcase, but focused smaller group discussions are also planned in the new year.

KMCLT volunteer Lenny and Emily have been moving forward with the KMCLT Oral history project. Come for a sneak peak!
