Intern Architect / Intermediate designer
A. Slade Architects Inc. is a boutique architecture firm in Collingwood, Ontario. We are currently looking for an Intern Architect / Intermediate designer to join the team.
We are seeking a creative and proactive individual who shares our passion for concept-inspired custom home design and community-based projects in the surrounding area. The successful candidate must be able to assist in managing projects from schematic design through to construction documents and onwards and be able to work both collaboratively and independently.
Job Type: Full- time position, Monday- Friday 8:30-4:30pm in our office.
Location: Collingwood, Ontario, Canada
Start Date: April 2024
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred 1-3 years post graduate professional experience (In Residential and Institutional work).

Master’s Degree in Architecture.

Registration with OAA as an Intern Architect, or Architect is an asset.

Must be proficient in Revit (and fluent with related Autodesk programs), TwinMotion, Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premier Pro, Bridge) and Microsoft 360 Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Experienced in permit and construction drawings and fully versed in the Ontario Building Code, and other applicable regulations (i.e. municipal by-laws, conservation authorities, etc.).

Experience coordinating/working with consultants to deliver full drawing packages.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team setting.

Capacity to manage multiple projects and prioritize deadlines.

Attention to detail and refined presentation skills with a focus on effective communication (i.e. making things easy for clients/owners to understand).

Strong project management skills, time management, and organization skills.
-
Friendly, personable, and not afraid to ask questions.
DUTIES INCLUDE:

Prepare and manage the development of planning and site analysis, schematic design options/ideas, detailed design development, permit drawings, construction documents, and contract administration.

Provide clear and concise drawings, specifications, details, and construction documents.

Coordinate and converse with engineers, consultants, suppliers, contractors, and any other members of the design and construction team.

Working in an integrated manner with the Principal Architect from the concept design phase through to construction documents.

Being self-accountable and completing work by agreed-to deadlines.

Adjusting designs and plans to meet the client's needs.

Production of concept and design options, high-quality renderings, 3D visualizations.

Conducting detailed product / material research and compiling reports on feasibility and environmental impact.

Sustainable analysis and knowledge of related engineering systems needed to achieve environmentally sensitive designs.

Managing and collaborating with other consultants and construction professionals.

Performing Field Review, Shop Drawings Review & Coordination, and Construction Administration (i.e. Site Instructions, Change Orders, Progress Draws, Close-out Documents, etc.)

Assisting with various projects and office duties as directed.
Salary Range: $55,000.00 - $75 ,000.00 annually (commensurate with experience). You will also receive an annual self-directed healthcare benefit.
