Marie-Paule Macdonald Featured in Toronto Star Article on Urban Design and Health

School of Architecture Associate Professor Marie-Paule Macdonald contributed her expertise to a recent Toronto Star feature: “Is Toronto’s design bad for our health? How urban spaces affect well-being and how we compare to others.”

In the article, Macdonald emphasizes the importance of multi-modal transportation optionsincluding walking, cycling, and public transit, for fostering healthier, more livable cities. She highlights Toronto’s bike lane network as a critical component of urban well-being and calls for improvements rather than removals, noting that integrated transit systems can reduce congestion, promote physical activity, and enhance safety.

Maybe instead of saying bike paths should be removed, maybe they could be looked at and analyzed and improved as networks to accompany the other transit methods that people have as a choice
