During
her
undergraduate
degree
at
Waterloo
Architecture
and
co-op
placements
in
Japan
and
Finland, Joanne
gained
a
respect
for
the
art
of
craft.
By
the
time
she
entered
the
Masters
program,
she
was
determined
to
learn
how
to
throw
pottery
and
work
with
wood.
She
spun
these
interests
into
her
thesis,
creating
a
set
of
dinnerware
and
furniture
to
examine
the
role
of
a
designer
in
everyday
life.
Through
her
research,
she
began
a
lifelong
journey
of
listening
to
the
materials
she
works
with
and
the
rituals
that
make
the
mundane
meaningful.
