Biography

Amrit Phull is an architect, educator, and award-winning editor. Her pedagogy and practice encourages a view of architecture as a tool for social change, informed by contextual narratives of people and place. As a Senior Architect at Flying Elephant Studio in Bangalore, India, she directed large-scale, community-oriented projects, including two 90,000 sq. ft. school campuses in Rajasthan for the Azim Premji Foundation, designed to support literacy and resilience in rural India. In Canada, Amrit has collaborated on Indigenous and community projects with Brook McIlroy, including the Orillia Waterfront Centre and the Franco-Ontarian Monument. As Co-Editor-in-Chief of The Site Magazine, her editorial leadership has garnered awards from the Canadian National Magazine Awards and the RAIC for nurturing an open discourse on systemic issues in architecture.
