Marie-Paule Macdonald, OAQ
Biography
Marie-Paule Macdonald studied architecture in Nova Scotia, obtaining a Bachelor of Architecture from Dalhousie University. She studied urbanism in Paris and obtained a post-professional graduate degree from University of Paris VIII, studying with urban theorist Françoise Choay. She is a registered architect, member of the Order of Architects of Québec. Recent teaching includes design studios addressing architecture, urbanism and sound, graduate studios on abstraction, and seminars on architecture, philosophy and urbanism. The Journal Scapegoat published her article ‘Trajectories and Territories’ in 2017. Reaktion Books, London, UK published her book Jimi Hendrix Soundscapes in 2015. Her book rockspaces was published by Art Metropole in Toronto in 2000. Other publications include Wild in the Streets, a collaborative project with Dan Graham, published in 1994. She participated in the organization of, and exhibited work in collective exhibitions and workshops such as Man-size, in 1995, and Anti-loft, in 2000, in Toronto, and Rockraum in Frankfurt in 1994.
