What will I study in iBASE?
iBASE runs 7 weeks. Classes begin in mid-July and finish towards the end of August.
Note: You must attend ALL classes for this intensive program. No late arrivals. No exceptions. We strongly recommend that you plan to arrive in Waterloo on Sunday, July 12, 2020. This will allow you time to adjust to your surroundings and settle in before you begin iBASE.
You take classes at Renison University College on the University of Waterloo campus. You learn the language and study skills you need to be successful in your program.
You study the same Level 40 BASE courses as in the regular BASE program:
BASE 042 Enhanced Skills & Strategies for University
BASE 044 Extended Academic Writing & Research Skills
BASE 046 Effective Academic Speaking & Communication Strategies
In iBASE, you do not take any Waterloo credit courses. However, you complete faculty-specific activities and attend guest lectures. You also participate in workshops and events that prepare you for your co-op work terms.
What will my iBASE schedule be?
You will be in class for 25 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
- Morning classes: 9:30 am to 12 pm
- Afternoon classes: 1 pm to 3:30 pm
You will receive your official class schedule during the iBASE Orientation on Tuesday, July 9 at 9:00am.
During the evenings and weekends, we encourage you to participate in the iBASE social and leadership development activities offered by iBASE and the University of Waterloo.
Where will I stay during iBASE?
Students in the iBASE program are encouraged to live in Renison University College’s residence. Residence rooms are available on a first come first serve basis. Be sure to confirm your offer by Monday, June 1, 2020 and submit your fees no later than Friday, June 5, 2020.
You may move into residence at any time starting Sunday, July 12, 2020. You must move out of residence by 9 am on September 3, 2020. To move in early to main campus residence, you will be required to complete an early move-in form in August.
