What does iBASE cost?

Your total program fees depend on where you are living during the program and health insurance requirements. Please select the option that fits your situation to determine your total program fees. Note that students residing in Canada must show proof of valid provincial or territorial health insurance coverage (example: a valid OHIP card) in order to be exempt from the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP).  

  • Option A: iBASE program fee for students living in Canada during the program (but will not be living in Renison Residence).
  • Option B: iBASE program fee for students living in Renison Residence on the University of Waterloo campus during the program.

University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP): $60

- Provides UHIP insurance coverage from July 10 to August 31, 2021. 

- If you have provincial or territorial health insurance, such as OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan), please email a copy of your OHIP card. If you submit proof of valid provincial or territorial health insurance, you will be exempt from this fee.

University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP): $60

Residence Accommodations, including full meal plan: $3,120

- Move-in Day: Sunday, July 11, 2021

- Move-out Day: Wednesday, September 1, 2021

- Students in the iBASE program are encouraged to live in Renison University College’s residence.  Residence rooms are available on a first come first serve basis.

- Residence accommodations include:

  • Single room accommodation with Wifi access.
  • Support from a Residence Don, a senior University of Waterloo student who lives in Residence and is there to support with any questions.
  • Bed linens, including a pillow and towel.
  • All-inclusive meal plan.

- If you (the applicant) are currently outside of Canada you must register for the University of Waterloo Student Quarantine Package. These fees are in addition to the Summer Residence and iBASE program fees.

- Register for Residence by Tuesday, June 1, 2021 on the Summer Residence Application Form

How do I pay for iBASE?

You must pay your tuition and fees by June 7, 2021 to reserve your place in iBASE.

Please ensure all payments are made to Renison University College and NOT the University of Waterloo.

Making a Payment from a Bank in Canada

There are two ways to pay your fees from a Canadian bank:

  1. Bank Payment
    • Add Renison University College as a bill payment “payee”.
    • Use your student ID number as the “account number”.   Please be very sure that you are using the correct student ID number.
    • Allow 2-4 business days for your payment to reach Renison University College.
    • If you post-date your payment, we will not be able to process it until the date of the payment. Late fees may apply.
  2. Certified Cheque, Money Order or Bank Draft from a Canadian Bank
    • Payable to Renison University College.
    • include your student number and name on the memo line of the payment.

Making a Payment from a Bank in Another Country

  1. Western Union for International Students (preferred method of payment).
    • Please ensure you submit this payment to Renison University College - not the University of Waterloo
  2. Certified cheque, International money order, or bank draft.

Program Refund

Your program payment includes a $200 CAD non-refundable administrative fee. If you submit a passing English language test score by July 12, 2022, you may apply for a refund. You will be eligible to receive the amount you paid to Renison, less this $200 fee and any applicable banking fees.

Your residence fees payment also includes a $500 CAD non-refundable administrative fee. If a student is unable to obtain a study visa, this administrative fee will be refunded, following the submission of supporting documentation.
