Communication is about making meaning, says Professor Robert Danisch, department chair of Communication Arts. “You make meaning by producing effects on others. So, it’s about how to produce the right kinds of effects to convey your message or ideas.” In fact, he's making effects on students of communication in the classroom and beyond with a toolbox of learning resources, including his podcast series, Now We’re Talking.

Researchers create a tool to determine the games and user experiences individuals will like
University of Waterloo researchers have developed a novel tool that will enable user experience designers to create more effective, personalized games and marketing campaigns.
Congratulations to Professor Henry Svec who was awarded a SSHRC Insight Development Grant of $50, 698 for a research project entitled "Entangling the Media History Archive: String Figures as Imaginary Media."

We are pleased to announce that Stavros Stavroulias has been chosen to represent the Faculty of Arts 2019 graduating class as its valedictorians at the afternoon convocation ceremony on June 12, 2019.
Stavros was selected from a group of nineteen nominees, following a presentation of his speech on Thursday, March 21, to a committee made up of Faculty of Arts students and faculty.
Stavros is completing a Bachelor of Arts joint honours degree in Speech Communication and Medieval Studies.
