Dr. Abdorasoul Ghasemi, Associate Professor in Computer Engineering is seeking collaborators

Thursday, June 13, 2019

Dear members of the Waterloo Institute for Complexity and Innovation,

I am writing for possible collaboration with WICI members on mutual interested projects. I am a university professor with experience in the field of networks and the interplay of network structure and its function. Networks are the underlying substrate for studying the complex systems. Analysis of the underlying network structure can help on better understanding the complex systems function and how/why collective behaviors emerge.

Currently, my team and I focus on four main projects: Controllability of complex networks and its engineering applications (collaboration  with UC Davis complex systems group that I take my sabbatical), Predictability of links in evolving complex networks (collaboration with University of Barcelona), Cascading failures in complex systems (modeling and control) and information spreading in social systems (how it affects network management at the CDN level). Nevertheless, I will be very happy and interested to collaborate on other research projects which needs the similar backgrounds. Please have a glance at my CV to find more.

I believe that studying complex systems is a cross and multidisciplinary research field and needs close collaboration between different research groups to achieve promising theoretical and practical results. Therefore, I am very enthusiastic about any possible collaboration and contribution that I may have; including working on a mutual interested project, possible research visit, serving as an external committee member of examiner for students working in my field, and exchanging collected data sets.

Best Regards

Abdorasoul Ghasemi
