SSHRC funding has been granted to new research projects involving WICI core members Dawn Parker and Steven Quilley.
Parker, WICI director and professor with University of Waterloo's School of Planning, will be working with Jeff Casello and Markus Moos to examine the pending development of light rail transit in Kitchener-Waterloo, and its affect on core-area intensification and socio-economic change.
Economics for the Anthropocene, a project core WICI member Quilley is part of, also received SSHRC funding. The project — a partnership of 25 academic, government, and NGO partners led by — will be using contemporary science to find news ways for the social sciences and humanities to connect to ecological realities and understand the human-Earth relationship.
