Dr. Ola Tjornbo is Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Human Sciences, at University of Concordia, and the Principal for Archipelago Consultants. Ola has a PhD in Global Governance from the Balsillie School of International Affairs looking at the role of social media networks in governance. His main research interest is looking at social transformation using social innovation, complexity and systems theories. He has published numerous papers on the role of leadership, governance, social media and power in complex systems transformation. He also also worked as a consultant, policy adviser and evaluator for numerous government, not-for-profit organizations and foundations working in the social innovation arena. He is the co-lead of a Berggruen Foundation project looking at the impact of social media on democracy and a co-founder of Archipelago Consultants. Archipelago is an independent organization dedicated to helping organizations engaged in systems change. Archipelago applies social innovation and governance theories to real world situations in order to both create real change and to build new knowledge.
