Update on immigration

Update for new graduate students

Last week, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) made an announcement to support you, as international students beginning your studies in fall 2020.  Below you will find an update from our University of Waterloo immigration consultants regarding the IRCC announcement. Phase 2 of Laboratory and Research Facilities Restart Plan

Update for graduate students

The Office of Research, the Safety Office and the Faculties are actively implementing a phased approach to restarting research on campus. In a memo released to faculty members on Monday, July 13, the Vice President Research and International expanded the criteria to restart research.

Phase 2 of our laboratory and research facilities restart plan

Update for researchers

The Office of Research and the Safety Office are actively implementing a phased approach to restarting research on campus. Previously, researchers could request access to continue on-campus research if the research was deemed critical or related to COVID-19. Phase 2 of the Research Restart plan expands criteria for on-campus research activities for those that cannot conduct research remotely or require access to labs or specialized facilities.

Fall 2020 midterm and final exam scheduling principles

Update for instructors

In most cases, Online/Remote Exams will be scheduled with an instructor-determined duration to be completed by students within a 24-hour window.

Some Online/Remote Exams may be scheduled at specific times (Instructors may choose to have 2-3 definite start times to satisfy time zones, over a 24-hour period that students can choose from, with 2-3 exam versions to encourage academic integrity)
