Yesterday we heard from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau about the importance of taking every possible measure to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. The University is continuing to take steps to safeguard our people, enable employees to work from home through the delivery of alternative and online services and maintain critical on-campus functions.
We are asking that researchers only maintain research on-campus if it is deemed critical research, until further notice. Critical research includes lab activities, that if disrupted, would result in serious loss of research data, material or equipment.
Associate deans are trying to provide up-to-date information that’s relevant to instructors and those supporting academic activity in the present, extraordinary, circumstances (Arts is credited with drafting much of this text).
Update for instructors in the Faculty of Environment
I’m writing to provide further information for you as you navigate these extraordinary circumstances in your courses (grad or undergrad).
Please see the attached message from David DeVidi and Jeff Casello that provides additional guidance on several items pertaining to your planning the rest of W2020 term. This message addresses several topics that you’ve been asking about, especially related to AccessAbility and your technology needs in order to “Keep Teaching.” For convenience, I have also pasted the message below (after my signature), though note that web links have been lost there. I am forwarding to faculty and advisors; I ask Chairs to forward to other key people who may not receive it (e.g., sessionals).
In order to avoid sending a string of messages, we have gathered together some information about issues that are being raised frequently with people who are supporting instructors as they plan for the remainder of Winter Term.
