Award description:
This scholarship was established by the friends and family of the late Bob Graham, an Associate Professor in Recreation and Leisure Studies, and a doctoral student in the School of Planning.
Graduate students in their second year in the Faculty of Health or the Faculty of Environment with an overall average of B+, and financial need are eligible to apply. The area of study must be terrestrial and marine parks and conservation, especially the integration of social science and natural science information, cooperative management, interpretation/environmental education or customary and traditional ecological knowledge.
It is desirable that students have evidence of volunteer commitment or employment with the following parks and conservation organizations: Parks Canada, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Natural Wildlife Areas, conservation authorities, Canada Parks and Wilderness Society, Federation of Ontario Naturalists, World Wildlife Fund Canada, cooperating associations, or similar organizations.

- Must be a graduate student from the Faculty of Health or the Faculty of Environment entering their second year of studies with a B+ academic overall average in graduate courses.
- Must be a Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident, as well as an Ontario resident (must have resided in Ontario for 12 months prior to beginning their postsecondary education).
- Must apply to OSAP for the term in which the award is due and provide a printout (screenshot) of their OSAP Funding Summary. Note: If a student has been restricted from applying to OSAP then they must instead provide proof that they are restricted.
- Must have demonstrated financial need. From their budget, within the Graduate Student Award application, their “Current term expenses” must exceed their “Current term income”. All amounts entered will be reviewed and only standard expenses will be allowed.
- Must be doing research in the area related to terrestrial and marine parks and conservation, especially the integration of social science and natural science information, cooperative management, interpretation/environmental education or customary and traditional ecological knowledge. This should be demonstrated in the personal letter portion of the application.
