Award description:
An award valued at $2,000, will be provided annually to a full-time graduate student enrolled in any year of a master's or doctoral program at the University of Waterloo. Selection is based on academic achievement (minimum 70% cumulative average in their current program) combined with involvement in cultural extracurricular activities and contributions to the Iraqi community as determined via their application. Interested students should apply by February 15 using the application found on the Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs website. This fund is made possible by a donation from Haitham Kamil, a proud alum (MASc’84).

One Award valued at $2,000 annually. 

Eligibility & selection criteria: 

  • Full-time graduate students registered in any master’s or doctoral program at the University of Waterloo
  • Selection to be based on academic achievement (minimum 70% cumulative average) combined with involvement in cultural extracurricular activities and contributions to the Iraqi community as determined via their application
  • Application, found on The Centre's website, is required by February 15
  • If there are no eligible applicants in a year, the funds may be awarded to an undergraduate student according to eligibility and selection criteria outlined in Appendix A. If still no eligible candidates are found, the funds will carry forward to a future year.
  • Waterloo will select recipients normally each Winter
