From Idea to Impact: Finding Gaps in Your Problem Space
Are you looking to solve big problems, but you’re not sure where to start? In this online workshop, Rachel Figueiredo, Waterloo’s entrepreneurship librarian, will show you how to understand the landscape of a problem and possibly identify how you might contribute to a solution. By integrating library subscriptions and openly available tools, attendees will learn how to research efficiently so they can get back to solving problems.
This workshop will consist of 50 minutes of instruction and 10 minutes of Q&A. Presentation materials will be available to registrants after the workshop.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
-
Utilize the Impact Gaps Canvas to make sense of an existing problem space
-
Find academic sources through Scopus to understand the history and context of their problem
-
Find non-traditional resources from NGOs, Think Tanks and government organizations
-
Incorporate tools like Google and Copilot ethically and efficiently into the research process
No prior knowledge is required to participate.
