Abstract:
Human behaviour is complex and driven by many internal and external factors. We have developed a behavioural change model that predicts an individual’s behaviour when they are situated in a social setting. Our model uses a combination of psychological and sociological ideas, the reasoned action approach, conformity, confirmation bias, and outcome feedback, to estimate how people might change their behaviours. For this seminar, we focus on a simplified scenario involving one individual and one external source of influence to explore how each parameter in our model effect the dynamics of behavioural change. Namely, we look at how the additions of outcome feedback and confirmation bias change the responses of an individual's behaviour as well as how an external influence can change these results. Additionally, we look at theoretical findings with regards to these results and discuss the work done so far as well as work that needs to be completed for the thesis.
