Abstract:
Tissue speed-of-sound (SoS), as a quantitative biomarker, can help assess tissue health. However, few methods for SoS estimation have demonstrated real-time applicability. In principle, a real-time SoS estimation framework would allow clinicians to correlate the SoS value with the B-mode image at the point of care. In my thesis, I have created a framework capable of performing accurate, real-time global SoS estimation concurrently with B-mode ultrasound imaging on a portable system, enhancing the accessibility of the tissue SoS as a biomarker.
