After our successful workshop on power system protection, we have decided to organize a tour of EATON's manufacturing plant.
There is an increasing trend in the electric utilities to perform real-time simulation of power systems to test their protection and control hardware. The real-time simulation can become prohibitively expensive for large power systems. A solution to this is to divide the system into an internal system where all details are important and an external system (the rest of the system) where some details are not important.
The competition invites teams of up to 4 students to choose an important industry problem, and thoroughly research its history, scope, and impact, before pitching the findings to a panel of judges on November 14th to compete for a share of up to $30,000 in funding.
