Electrical and computer engineering professor, Dr. Raafat Mansour receives Faculty of Engineering Award of Excellence in Graduate Supervision

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is pleased to announce that Dr. Raafat Mansour has been selected as the recipient of the 2025–2026 Faculty of Engineering Award of Excellence in Graduate Supervision.

This award recognizes faculty members who demonstrate outstanding commitment to mentoring graduate students, fostering academic excellence, and supporting the professional development of future researchers and leaders. Dr. Mansour’s dedication to graduate supervision has had a lasting impact on students across multiple generations, many of whom have gone on to successful careers in academia and industry.

Dr. Mansour will be formally recognized at the Faculty of Engineering Faculty and Staff Awards Lunch, to be held in January 2026.

An internationally recognized leader in microwave and radio-frequency (RF) engineering, Dr. Mansour has made pioneering contributions that have reshaped the field. He developed transformative RF filter architectures that established new performance benchmarks and led groundbreaking work integrating superconducting, micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), and phase-change materials into reconfigurable RF devices. His research has successfully translated into widely adopted commercial technologies, influencing global industry practices and advancing modern RF and microwave systems.

Dr. Mansour is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada. His many distinctions include the 2014 Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) Engineering Medal for Research and Development, the 2019 IEEE Canada A.G.L. McNaughton Gold Medal Award, and the 2026 Distinguished Educator Award from the IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society (MTT-S).

Through his research leadership and exceptional mentorship, Dr. Mansour exemplifies the university's commitment to excellence in graduate education.
