Women in Engineering at the University of Waterloo

Women in Engineering (WiE) supports current female engineers and students while encouraging the next generation of women to pursue careers in engineering. This program was established to address the issues that female engineers face and encourage more girls to pursue engineering and better reflect the gender ratio of the general population within the profession.

WiE Objectives

  • To give women of all ages the opportunity to choose engineering as a career. This is done through special outreach events such as Go ENG Girl for girls in grades seven - ten, Engineering Badge day for girl guides, and other programs focused on women.
  • To encourage and promote an environment where women can pursue scientific work and study. This is done by providing a forum for current students and faculty that can highlight and share accomplishments with others.
