Indigenous and Native American Students
The University of Waterloo will offer the Domestic Ontario tuition fee for Out of Province Indigenous students and for Native American students from the continental U.S.
The University of Waterloo will waive the tuition fee for Indigenous students who are members of Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation or Six Nations of the Grand River.

Sponsored Students
Some Indigenous students may be funded for their studies by their band or other third-party sponsor. This is known as third-party sponsorship. Sponsorship may include tuition, incidental fees, including insurance, and living expenses. Not all fees charged to your Quest student account may be covered by your sponsor. If you or your sponsor would like to find out more about how sponsorship works please contact the Office of Indigenous Relations or Student Financial Services by using the Third Party Sponsorship form.
Becoming Fees Arranged:
Each term a sponsored students has tuition and fees posted on Quest, they must become Fees Arranged by:
- Completing their Promissory Note and/ or
- Making a payment for any charges not covered by the sponsor and/or
- Emailing a copy of your Sponsorship Letter to Peggy Ventura pventura@uwaterloo.ca if your Anticipated Aid exceeds your term balance
For charges not covered by your sponsor, you may be able to leverage the Indigenous Student Development Fund
A Fees Arranged Extension Fee will be applied to your account if you are not showing as Fees Arranged on Quest by the term due date.
Please do not send a copy of your Quest fee bill to your sponsor. We will invoice your sponsor after the 50% refund period has passed, provided you have a Fees Arranged status for the term.
