Tuition Benefit for uWaterloo employees & their children

 
 
 
  • To qualify for the benefit for a specific term, the employee must be:
    • a uWaterloo employee/pensioner on the first day of term and remain an employee/pensioner during the first three weeks of that term.
    • enrolled in the employee benefits plan or receiving a uWaterloo pension.
  • You are not eligible to apply for the employee tuition benefit if you are:
    • the child of a uWaterloo employee and not a uWaterloo employee yourself; your parent needs to apply for the benefit--not you. 
    • employed as a TA, RA, sessional instructor, Co-op student or on contract.
  • Employees are eligible for a tuition benefit amount equal to 100% (or other % based on FTE less than 100%, subject to the terms of Policy 4).
    • of the TUITION FEE ONLY.
    • an amount up to a maximum of two .5-credit undergraduate courses or a part-time graduate program per term; exceptions will only be considered for students in their final term of a degree program.
    • at the domestic tuition rate.
    • for the term indicated on the form at the time of submission. We cannot process requests for a tuition benefit retroactive to a term prior to the term displayed on the form at the time of submission.
  • Employees are eligible for a tuition benefit amount for their child/children equal to 50% (or other % based on FTE, subject to the terms of Policy 24).
    • of fees for TUITION, CO-OP FEE AND WORK REPORT MARKING FEE ONLY.
    • at the domestic rate.
    • for the term indicated on the form at the time of submission. We cannot process requests for a tuition benefit retroactive to a term prior to the term displayed on the form at the time of submission.

The tuition benefit application is open for submission each term from six weeks prior to start of term until the end of the second month of that term:

To apply for the tuition benefit amount for yourself or your child:

1. Complete the application form on behalf of the student (you or your child) and click the SUBMIT button on the form.  If you and your child will both be students this term, you need to complete and submit a form for each student. 
NOTE: Your/your child's tuition benefit amount will be automatically added to your student account in Quest within one business day following your application.  

2. Make a payment for the remaining amount owing on your/your child's student account.
NOTE: Once the entire balance owing is paid by the tuition benefit and any payment required, your/your child's registered status will change to "Fees Arranged".
