Janice McGregor is an Associate Professor of Second Language Acquisition and Teaching & German Studies at the University of Arizona.
Join the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies and the Social Interaction, Language and Culture Lab (SILC) for a public lecture featuring Janice McGregor: Competing concerns and undoing harm in language and intercultural education.
Janice will be sharing her research on university students' study abroad experiences, focusing on tensions that arise from misconceptions about language and intercultural education. In particular, she addresses how students challenge but also reinscribe ideologies grounded in monolingualism, native-speakerism, and neoliberalism.
