This course addresses the role of women in Croatian society throughout history, including their positions in the family, urban and rural areas, and in the state during different historical and social moments. The main aim of this course is to raise issues related to the specifics of the positions and roles of women in social, cultural, political and economic aspects of Croatian, European and world history, to get to know the facts and to understand the processes of emancipation of women. The goal is to enable students to take an independent critical approach to certain topics related to women's aspirations to gain recognition and equality. The course will be conducted as a small seminar, in which we will read and discuss literary texts (from the time of mythologization to the present day), as well as scientific and newspaper articles and films.
The course is taught in English.
