Study on German speakers seeks participants

Sunday, September 28, 2014

Katharina Schröder, a PhD student from the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies, is looking for people interested in participating in her PhD research. She is exploring the experience of adults who were raised in (partly) German speaking families in Canada (and/or other places where German is not a majority language). Specifically, she is looking for participants who are taking steps to further develop their German, either formally or informally, or who have done so, as adults, in the past.

The study consists of three components: individual interviews, written reflection, and group meetings. Participants can part in either all or only part of the components, depending on their preferences and whatever commitment they are able and willing to give. The study is being conducted in English and German; participants can use whichever language they prefer, and are able to opt out any time. The project has received ethics clearance from the University of Waterloo.

Anyone interested in participating contact Katharaina Schröder for more details. Feel free to forward this information to anyone who may be interested.
