Teach English in Germany

In co-operation with the German Pedagogical Exchange Office (PAD), the Canadian Association of University Teachers of German is accepting applications for positions as English-language assistants in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Teacher in the classroomThe assistants spend 9 months at a school (starting in September 2014) in Germany, working 12 hours per week as resource persons under the direction of teachers of English. They are expected to help with conversation and oral practice of English and should also be able to provide information about everyday life and culture in Canada.

Eligibility

  • Students who will have completed a first degree (BA) upon assuming the position. Students major in any subject (including German, of course).
  • Must be native speakers of English and long-time residents of Canada.
  • Must have very good knowledge of German.
  • Should be not older than 29 years of age.

The teaching assistants receive a cost-of-living stipend (minimum: 800 Euros/month).  This includes insurance and is tax-exempt.
