Where and what did you study before you came to Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of Waterloo?
I studied at the University of Mannheim for my Bachelor of Arts in German Studies and Media Communication Science.
What are your interests in German Studies?
I'm fascinated by almost everything in German Studies. I find it very interesting to study the theoretical foundations of everyday communication in linguistics, but also contemporary literature and the origins of German prose appear to have great value to me.
Why did you choose the University of Waterloo?
Since I studied at the University of Mannheim, I first learned about this program in my second semester. I had always wanted to do a year abroad and heard only positive reports about Waterloo from alumni.
Do you already know what you want to write your thesis on?
So far, I have a great interest in psycholinguistics, especially language acquisition research, and intend to write in that field. But the exact topic is not yet found.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was little, I always dreamed of becoming a novelist for youth literature or becoming a jet pilot.
What is a fun fact about you?
I collect all kinds of things that are cat-related because I would like to open a cat cafe someday and fill it with these kinds of items.
