Safety Reminder: If you see something suspicious, say something
August 24, 2023
Earlier today, people in the MC building noticed an unknown individual who caused some concern based on their appearance and behaviour. The individual fled the building and is believed to have pulled a fire alarm. Special Constables were alerted, and the building evacuated as per protocol when the alarm is activated.
Special Constables have said that there is no current threat, was never a threat to the community and they have no ongoing cause for concern. The Dean of Math has emailed members of the Faculty to reassure them that the situation is normal and there is no threat.
This is a reminder that if you see something suspicious, you should call Special Constables at: On Campus Extension: 22222 or Direct Line: 519-888-4911. In an emergency situation, call 911.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
