Denaye Barahona

University of Waterloo and Western University (UWO) are pleased to offer a special online session for graduate student and postdoc parents! Join Monica Munaretto, Manager of Graduate Student Life (UWO), and Dr. Denaye Barahona, founder of Simple Families, to talk about parenting in grad school or during your postdoc in this time of social distancing.

Denaye holds a PhD in child development and is a Clinical Social Worker with a specialty in child and family practice.  She is the founder of SimpleFamilies.com, an online community and learning resource that encourages "living well by developing a healthy relationship with yourself, your family, and your home". Denaye was parenting a young family while writing her own dissertation and appreciates the challenges of being an emerging researcher while holding the role of caregiver.  When her popular blog and podcast started to explore parenting in the pandemic, we reached out to see if she could spend some time with our community to answer your questions about parenting as a grad student, or parenting during your postdoc, especially during a pandemic.
