Celebrating doctoral graduates at an exclusive virtual celebration and in-person reception

Speakers at the spring 2022 PhD celebration

On Thursday, May 26, 2022 Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) hosted an exclusive virtual celebration, to honour the doctoral graduating class of spring 2022. PhD graduands, their supervisors and guests were welcome to attend. The virtual event featured speeches by:

  • Jeff Casello, Associate Vice-President, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs
  • Mike Paris, Governor General Gold Medal Award Winner
  • Patrick Naylor,¬†Governor General Gold Medal Award Winner
  • Liz Nilsen, Assistant Vice-President, Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs
  • Siva Sivoththaman, Associate Dean, Graduate Studies, Faculty of Engineering
  • Peter Deadman, Associate Dean, Graduate Studies, Faculty of Environment
  • Brian Laird, Associate Dean, Graduate Studies, Faculty of Health
  • Bertrand Guenin, Associate Dean, Graduate Studies, Faculty of Mathematics
  • Martin Ross, Associate Dean, Graduate Studies, Faculty of Science

Audience members were welcomed to offer messages of congratulations through the live chat during the event, and photos/videos of time spent at Waterloo, submitted by the doctoral graduands and their supervisors were featured. We look forward to continuing this exclusive celebration to honour the achievement of our doctoral graduates in the future. A recording of the virtual event is included below.
