Graduate students and graduate alumni were well represented in the 23rdVelocity Fund Finals, where finalists present a three-minute pitch for the chance to win a $25K or $5K prize! Of the four companies that took home the $25K prize, two have founders or co-founders with graduate degrees from University of Waterloo (CataLight, and Membio), and a third was co-founded by a current University of Waterloo graduate student (Brink Bionics) .
PhD student Lichen Zhang, who has experience presenting in three minutes or less at the 2018 university-wide Three Minute Thesis (3MT) finals, also took home a 5K prize with her co-founder, Lucas Liepert, for their company PriveHealth.
Congratulations to all of the Velocity Fund Final winners!

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
