Wilfrid Laurier University cordially invites proposals for paper, poster, and video presentations
for the 11th annual Justice, Crime, and Deviance: Graduate Research and Networking
Conference to be held virtually on Wednesday March 22nd, 2023 and in-person on Saturday,
March 25th, 2023. This interdisciplinary conference will provide a platform for graduate students
to share both completed and ongoing research endeavours, in relation to the disciplines of justice,
crime, and deviance. This conference enables graduate students to network with colleagues and
professors from a wide range of academic institutions and fields and develop valuable
connections for future research projects. We strongly encourage all graduate students to attend
and present, as this conference provides an advantageous opportunity to enhance presentation
skills.
Graduate students of all levels (Masters and PhD candidates) from a variety of fields are
encouraged to apply including, but not limited to: Criminology, Criminal Justice Policy,
Sociology, Social Justice, Sociolegal Studies, Human Rights, Psychology, Health Studies,
Women and/or Gender Studies, Sexuality Studies, Queer Studies, and Indigenous Studies.
Students from a variety of institutions are welcome to submit an abstract/proposal for
consideration.
Proposals for presentations will be accepted until Monday, February 26th, 2023. Please send an
abstract of 200-250 words to jcdconference@gmail.com. Additionally, proposals must include:
● Your name
● A paper title
● Institutional affiliation
● Program of study
● Type of presentation (paper or poster)
● Preference for the in-person or virtual event (preference cannot be guaranteed,
although we will make an effort to have people present in their preferred delivery
method)

Presentations are to be approximately 15 minutes in length. Time will be allotted for a question
period at the end of the panel. Additional information about panels will be forthcoming via email
updates and can be found on our website, once the program is finalized.
